What we collect

The form asks for the issue, public source locations, public-interest relevance, and optional contact information. Contact information is for follow-up and is not intended for public attribution unless you explicitly consent.

Form processor

The launch version of the web form is intended to use Formspree as a third-party form processor. Its systems may receive technical information such as IP address and browser/request metadata. Review the provider's current privacy terms before submitting if that matters to your situation.

Do not send

Passwords, hacked or access-controlled material, Social Security numbers, private home addresses, medical records, intimate images, private family information, or allegations about purely private conduct with no public-interest relevance.

How tips are treated

A tip is a lead, not proof. The preferred workflow is to independently locate the underlying public record and verify the claim from that record rather than relying on a submitter's identity or reputation.

Retention

Obvious spam and irrelevant sensitive material should be deleted promptly. Unused tips and contact information are intended to be deleted within 90 days. Material tied to an active investigation may be retained while the work remains active. Public-source evidence needed to support a published case may be retained longer as part of the project's audit trail.

Quoting and attribution

Submitters are not publicly identified without explicit consent. A submission may be paraphrased or quoted only when doing so serves the public-interest analysis and unnecessary identifying details have been removed.
